The Sony BRAVIA 3 K75S30 is all about smart streaming on a huge canvas. If you want a dead-simple 75-inch TV that just works with Google TV and all your apps without a fuss, this is it. But don't expect jaw-dropping picture quality, its Direct LED panel and 60Hz refresh hold it back from being a home theater hero.

We were surprised by how snappy Google TV feels here. The 4K HDR Processor X1 does a solid job upscaling streaming content, and Dolby Vision support adds some extra punch. That said, motion handling stumbles, the Motionflow XR 240 is just backlight flicker tricks and can't mask the 60Hz ceiling. In our database, picture quality ranks a disappointing 36th percentile, so it's not pulling ahead of cheaper Mini-LED rivals.

Pricing for this model is all over the map, bundles from $397 up to $30,099, so you really have to shop carefully. The sweet spot seems to be the base TV alone around $800-900. If you spot a bundle with a decent Sony soundbar for under a grand, that's worth considering. Otherwise, hold out for a price dip or look at a TCL QM8K that offers Mini-LED for not much more.

Stack it against the TCL QM8K Series 75QM8K and the Hisense U7 Series 65U75QG. The TCL is the real threat, it brings Mini-LED backlighting and 120Hz to the table, often at a similar price for the 75-inch size, and its picture quality is leagues ahead. The Hisense U7 is smaller but also sports 120Hz and better contrast. Where the Sony wins is software polish and brand trust, Google TV here runs circles around TCL's interface, and Sony's processing tends to hold up better over time. Still, if you care about watching movies in a dark room, the TCL is the one to get.

If you're hunting for deep blacks, high contrast, or a 120Hz gaming display, this isn't it. Go grab the TCL QM8K 75-inch instead. It'll cost a bit more but gives you Mini-LED and real HDR punch that the Sony just can't match.

For a bright living room where you primarily stream Netflix and YouTube, the BRAVIA 3 K75S30 delivers a friendly, giant-screen experience with few annoyances. But picture enthusiasts and gamers should definitely pass. If you want big-screen immersion without settling for mediocre contrast, the TCL QM8K will make you much happier.
